About Us and What we Offer

Team Mission: To develop young athletes physically and psychologically in the sport of synchronized swimming through teamwork, respect and dedication. Motivate swimmers to set goals and give them the necessary tools and guidance to achieve them.

The Loreleis is a developmental and competitive synchronized swimming team begun in 1975 by former Weeki Watchee Mermaid legend Mary Rose. Mary dedicated her life to the sport and to the swimmers she taught for over 35 years. A pioneering force for the sport, she achieved numerous awards both as an athlete and an official. Her passing in 2009 was not without heartache, however her spirit lives on through the team she created. The team continues to grow as a new generation carries on Mary’s vision of teamwork and respect. Loreleis make up 3 sub groups, Novice, Intermediate and Age Group based on swimmer skill level. Our competitive teams compete in meets throughout the state of Florida, and occasionally out of state. We also offer non-competitive opportunities in the form of synchro camps and lessons.  Classes will provide an opportunity for boys and girls to try it and see if they like synchro. We participate under the rules of the NorthEast Florida Association of Synchronized Swimming and USA Synchro. Practice schedule and duration will vary depending on the technical level of the athlete. The structure of each practice for our swimmers varies, but essentially incorporates exercises in and out of the water to develop their aerobic and anaerobic abilities, as well as, muscular fitness to build strength, endurance, speed, power, balance, flexibility and agility. Synchronized swimming is a very demanding sport requiring hard work, dedication and self-discipline. Synchro is not just a beautiful sport to watch, but also rewarding to do. The YCF Loreleis welcomes any athlete between the ages 6 to 19 interested in learning and participation in the wonderful sport of synchronized swimming.

Parent Duties

5. I make sure my child shows up for practices and meets.
6. I boost my child's confidence all the time.
